Sagenwelten
The album takes you to places that are only known from fairy tales. Places with dark secrets that
shine again through their beauty.
This concept album is about legends and stories from the old Danube regions around Vienna, set
to music in an atmospheric black metal style.
Fallaness wasn't really planned - when I got stuck on the new Winters Breath album, I started
playing around with other guitar sounds and sound libraries. That's how "Die Hexe" came about
and from there one thing developed into another.

With FALLANESS, the Linz-based label
Running Wild Productions has brought forth
another gem from our underground that
definitely has the potential to make a name
for itself internationally. Whether the project
will ever reach the clubs and stages of
Austria is unfortunately completely unclear and rather
unlikely, but more albums of this caliber are definitely
welcome.

Burkhard Lettner, already known from
Winter's Breath, presents a really strong
debut with Fallaness and the album
“Sagenwelten”. The setting of eerie legends
from the Vienna region in the form of
melodic, atmospheric black metal: “Every
year at the same time the devil lingers in front of the
oak...”

“Sagenwelten” impressed me with both its
power and its ethereal beauty. I need to get
their back catalog, and I really hope
Fallaness graces us with another album
before too long.

AMMO (8/10)
Echoing screams, thundering rhythms,
sounds like wafts of fog and menacing
keyboards are the pillars of this doomy
monolith, which takes all listeners on a
depressing and arduous journey through
dark valleys.

Metal Revolution (7.7/10)
The sound of Fallaness as presented on
Sagenwelten is a decent piece of
atmospheric black metal where the
composer’s main focus is on creating dark
and gloomy atmosphere, “dreamy” or
ethereal textures, lenthy songs, and with a
lyrical content about nature, local legends and tales.
Sagenwelten is an atmospherically dense, well-
structured and coherent concept album, that takes
the listener on a depressing and arduous journey that
is both monolithic, but also stunningly beautiful.

antichrist mag. (8.5/10)
With barely a moment of slack, a
competent use of dramatic breaks,
illustrious tremolo-picking among heavy,
crawling doom riffs and perfectly placed
haunting synths to boot, Fallaness‘ debut is
simply not just the extension of an existing
project, it’s a fresh and more cohesive beast than
previous works by Burkhard, hence fully deserving of
this new moniker and being an entity of its own. There
will be more, I suppose?

With their new album “Sagenwelten”, the
Austrian one-man band FALLANESS
delivers a sonic journey into the mysterious
and myth-enshrouded swamps of the old
Danube region. Burkhard, the creative mind
behind FALLANESS, takes the listener on a
journey into dark and raw soundscapes inspired by
legends and myths.

Metalized - print (8/10)
Musically, Fallaness deliver an impressive
blend of melodic and atmospheric black
metal, combining echoing and hoarse
vocals with brutal and harmonic guitar riffs.
[...] The production is raw and perfectly
suited to the genre, making Sagenwelten a
solid debut for fans of atmospheric black metal.
